Actors Headshot Photography in Newcastle

Sep 18, 2023 | Guides

Hey there! I’m assuming you’re an actor investigating headshot photos?
If you’re located in (or travelling to) Newcastle, Tyne and Wear, Sunderland, Durham or throughout the North East, we can discuss your next headshot photoshoot, dedicated for actors.

As a professional headshot photographer, you can find out more about my actors headshot service below, with a little guide I put together for you, and of course my portfolio of existing headshots…

What is an acting headshot?

If you’re an actor, your headshot is your first audition.
It shows your true likeness and character.

At Tracy James Photography, I don’t just take a picture; I capture your acting potential.

As an acting headshot photographer, having clients tell you they have never had a headshot taken that looks so much like themselves is a huge compliment. By using a variety of backgrounds within a studio setting I can create headshots to showcase your true personality as an actor.

Here are some of my previous examples of headshots for actors:

Having headshots taken can sometimes feel daunting, but I’ve provided some tips below to help you get the best out of your headshot session:

What do I wear for an acting headshot?

Bringing a choice of different tops to your portrait session will give you the ability to get different looks and will give several different headshot images from one session. Bring a choice of tops you feel comfortable in, plain is best but nothing too bright. The clothing should be well cared for and crease free, a stretched-out neckline and creases can ruin a headshot – and can cause headaches with digital editing afterwards!

How do I prepare for an acting headshot?

1. Grooming
Styling your hair for a portrait session is a great way to help you feel and look your best.
Don’t be afraid to ask for a few minutes before the shoot takes place to get everything sorted out. If you also feel something isn’t right will your hair during a shoot, just let me know, if possible, I can help or I can give you time to sort it out. You feeling fully confident is the most important thing.

2. Get lots of sleep
If possible, get as much sleep as you can the night before your headshot session. This will help minimise dark shadows under your eyes and if you have slept well, you will have more energy to show your true self during the shoot.

3. Make up
If you are wearing makeup to your acting headshot session, make sure it is natural and simple as you want to look like yourself.

I hope this little guide to acting headshots helps you when considering a photo shoot. With me hopefully!!
